The QED Remote Audio System (RAS) is a pair of passive baluns incorporated into a System 45 wall plate allowing
unbalanced line level stereo analogue audio to be transmitted via Category 5 unshielded copper twisted pair (UTP)
in a point-to-point connection.
Used as a pair, the QED Remote Audio System (RAS) kit eliminates costly and bulky coaxial cable or phono cable. The QED RAS completely isolates signal
grounds. This removes the possibility of hum loops and enables the product to be used as a cure for system hum when ground loops are their cause.
The transmitter faceplate incorporates a 'loop-through' such that the output to a local amplifier can be maintained. On the output faceplate
there are two pairs of stereo outputs.
Alternative faceplates in metal finishes can be purchased as extras, see here.
Typical performance over 50m:
- Frequency response 22Hz-42kHz +/-3dB.
- Loss: less than 0.05dB.
- THD+N Distortion @ 1kHz; less than 0.009%
Kit includes:
- Two RAS wall mount stereo audio baluns
- IDE punch down tool
