Clever900 compact media center

The Clever Technologies Clever900 is a smaller version of its highly specified bigger brother, the Clever1750. Like the Clever1750 it is designed to sit beneath your TV/plasma/LCD screen where your Freeview digibox or VCR or DVD player would normally go, and replaces them all. The Clever900 is a more compact unit, measuring just 380mm wide x 100mm high, equivalent to a 'set-top box', and is ideal where space is at a premium.

Essentially the Clever900 is a high specification PC running Windows Media Center Edition (MCE) on a Pentium Core2 Duo T5500 processor. In fact it has been designed specifically for MCE, but it brings the convenience of all of your home entertainment equipment into a single, very user friendly, device that looks like any normal piece of home entertainment equipment with its brushed aluminium facia. Like normal TVs (but unlike PCs) the Clever900 has an instant on/off switch.

NB: The Clever900 is designed for plasma and LCD screens. It does not support output to a conventional CRT TV.

Like all Media Centers, the Clever900 is not compatible with those LCDs and plasma displays that do not support PC resolutions. Please check your technical specification if you are unsure. Connection of these results in a loss of the edge of the image around the screen, which whilst it may be acceptable for viewing TV, DVD, etc, causes problems when using the Clever900 as a PC in a Windows environment.

The Clever900 replaces your:

• Freeview digibox, the Clever900 replaces your Freeview digibox having a built-in digital TV tuner. A hand held remote control, with its "back to home" green button, which makes the system very easy to use, is supplied as part of the package
• DVD player, with top quality digital video output (DVI) for the ultimate pictures on your large plasma or LCD screen, and Dolby Digtal 7.1 surround sound that you can connect directly into your AV amplifier or AV receiver to give a true home cinema experience
• DVD recorder, with slot loading and the two TV tuners that allow you to record one programme whist watching another or record two programmes simultaneously. The Clever1750 also allows you to 'pause' live TV and even 'rewind' live TV for a short time when you haven't tried to record it
• CD player either as a single disc player, or with the hard disc based (250Gb) storage on the Clever900, you can store your whole music library, in either uncompressed or compressed eg MP3, format and have them instantly available for play back through your HiFi system
• WiFi PC computer, since this is an impressive Intel Core2 Duo T5500 processor based computer. This allows you to perform all of the normal PC functions using the Clever900, including surfing the Internet, but using your plasma or LCD screen as the viewing device. A Microsoft Infrared keyboard is supplied as part of the package

NB: If you wish to connect Sky to the system you should specify the tuners as analogue. This will allow you to connect the Sky input in one of two ways.

• If your Sky box can be directly connected, use the S-video and stereo audio outputs from Sky into the Clever900 and select this as your Sky box connection during the set-up procedure. You can find AV connecting leads here
• If it is not possible to connect using direct connections connect via the RF output from the Sky digibox into the RF aerial input of the Clever900. Sky will then be just another channel on the system. This direct connection will give you mono sound from Sky broadcasts. To receive stereo sound use the CGV stereo Universal Modulator and connect via the SCART output on the Sky digibox.
