The Audio Authority AVAtrix AVX-561 6x6 HDTV matrix switcher allows you to distribute 6 component video and audio sources as HDTV signals
(at up to 1080p resolution) over Cat5e cable, over distances of up to 300m, to convenient Wallplates mounted adjacent to TVs or screens around your home.
The system can be expanded to distribute to up to 36 TVs or screens.
The Audio Authority AVAtrix AVX-561 consists of two key components:
- The Audio Authority HDTV AutoSelector switcher (Part No 1156), which sits on top of
- The Audio Authority HDTV Matrix Router (Part No 1176)
The 1156 AutoSelector accepts high definition outputs from SkyHD and other satellite or HD cables digiboxes, DVD players, XBox360 and AV streaming devices such
as the Pixel Magic HD media boxes providing the output is on component video (Y, Pb, Pr) and the audio is either digital (optical/TOSlink or co-ax) or analogue stereo.
This audio flexibility means that from your centralised sources you can distribute to home cinema rooms where you have an AV receiver/amp giving you surround sound
from the digital audio, but also to TVs which just have analogue stereo sound input connections.
The Audio Authority HDTV Matrix Router enables any of the 6 TV/screens to access any of the 6 sources simultaneously. It requires two runs of Cat5e cable (UTP) from
the central location to each TV/screen position. These cables carry the balanced component video,
digital and analogue audio. Each cable needs to be terminated with an RJ45 plug, which connects directly into the rear of the special wall plates (Part No. 9878).
(You will need a crimping tool to do this).
The wall plates incorporate baluns that convert the video back into usable component video and digital and analogue audio. Your plasma or LCD screen or TV connects
directly to these wall plates, without any further equipment. No TV tuner is required in the receiving screens because they use the AV signals. They do not decode
TV like a normal television. This means that you can use high quality professional plasma screens such as the Panasonic 9 series, without spending money on
TV tuners that you will not use.
The system can be expanded to distribute to up to 36 TVs or screens, by adding additional 1176 HDTV matrix routers. Each HDTV Matrix Router expands the system
by a further 6 TVs. Only one AutoSelector switcher is required.
If you do want to run terrestrial TVs (analogue or digital) on this system, the wall plates do have a co-ax TV aerial connector built onto it, to keep all the
connections tidy and on a single plate.
The wall plates are US style and each one requires a US double gang back box.
To select the source and then control it from the remote TVs, the system incorporates an Infra-Red (IR) relay system. To make this usable you require an IR
sensor at each TV location from which you require control. These IR sensors are sold separately, and plug into the jack socket on the wall plate.
You can use the receiver only from Xantech HiddenLink, MicroLink or DinkyLink IR relay kits.
To allow you to control multiple brands of the same equipment, eg SkyHD, Sky+ and Sky Digital, the Audio Authority AVAtrix AVX-561 kit comes complete with an IR
router (Part No 1108) and an IR remote control (Part No 1105). The IR router allows IR signals returned from a Wallplate to control only the source
currently routed to that Wallplate output.
The Audio Authority AVAtrix AVX-561 also has an RS232 connection for interfacing with other control systems.
