The Canton Ergo 601 is a very high quality, compact two-way bass reflex speaker just 4 inches deep designed specifically for flat wall mounting in either a stereo or part of a surround sound
system. It uses a single 7-inch aluminum cone for the bass. It also features
gold-plated bi-wire/bi-amp connections to accommodate a variety of amplifier setups
Like all of the Canton Ergo range the Ergo 601 employs the newest evolution of the company's highly regarded ADT-25 aluminium-manganese dome tweeter. This has a
flared "transmission" style front plate, which delivers improved high frequency dispersion and off-axis linearity, and increases driver efficiency by 2 to 3 dB
overall. As with the earlier tweeters in the Ergo line, the revised ADT-25 employs Canton's signature one-piece aluminum-manganese dome and voice coil former.
This arrangement provides superior high frequency performance and heat dissipation when compared to conventional two-piece designs.
The driver in the Canton Ergo 601 features an improved surround design that leads to reduced distortion and less susceptibility to break-up modes,
giving the tweeter an effective operating range that has been extended to 40 kHz.
The bass/midrange driver in the Canton Ergo 601 features a black anodized aluminum cone for extremely stiff and lightweight response. The wave systems (cone, dust cap,
and surround) of the drivers for the whole Ergo range are the same as those developed for the highly regarded Canton Vento series, including a newly
developed sinusoidal surround and improved spider, providing a 30-40% increase in excursion, and 3 dB increase in output.
