The Marantz IS201 docking station for iPod makes the most of the iPod experience, fully integrating all iPods (except Shuffle) prior to the current 6th generation with any
home cinema or hi-fi system, or even a PC if you wish, and is completely backwards compatible.
The Marantz IS201 offers incredible compatibility and complete control, due to its range of connections, including
stereo phono, S-Video, RC-5, IR-Flasher input and RS-232 connections and a unique, self-generated on-screen display.
The Marantz IS-201 iPod dock can be free standing or wall mounted, see photo below.
A remote handset is part of the Marantz IS201 kit, which lets you control the device from across the room, via a stand alone IR relay system or via an IR relay system
built into all of the multroom controller systems we offer such as the Russound CAV66, CAA66 or CAS44. Alternatively you can have command of your iPod via
our learning remote controls, including the Philips Pronto or from your PC
via the RS232 connection.
When used with the Russound CAV system, which distributes composite video to all screens around your house, the IS201 allows you to display the metadata menu
structure from the iPod, listen to your
music through full size speakers and watch videos and view photo albums on your screen of choice. If you use the IS201 with a multiroom controller
without video distribution, you will need a video modulator such as the Labgear MOD111 and a TV distribution amplifier to make the iPod menus and video
output available on TVs throughout the house.
NB. The Marantz IS201 dock will work with all iPods including the current 6th generation, but it will not display the menu metadata from the current
range on your TV. This is because the latest iPods have a revised chip preventing such display. All previous versions will display the metadata.
