This TV One 1T-VS-626 HDMI scaler has two main functions for home multiroom use. Firstly it can upscale or downscale HDMI video signals
say between 720p and 1080p
to allow you to connect TV screens with different resolutions to the same distribution amp or matrix switch. Secondly it can take audio on
a separate Toslink input, eg from a SkyHD box, and merge it into the HDMI output signal for distribution around your home.
Audio functions
The 1T-VS-626 HDMI Scaler can accept audio embedded in the incoming HDMI signal or from the separate TOSlink or analogue Stereo inputs. The HDMI
output can be the same resolution as the input or scaled to a different resolution. Output audio is simultaneously present embedded in the HDMI
signal and separately as Toslink and analogue Stereo. This provides maximum flexibility for systems integration.
This flexibility is ideal for SkyHD distribution because the SkyHD HDMI output only contains audio in stereo NOT in 5.1 surround sound.
Soundtracks broadcast by Sky in surround sound can only be obtained from the TOSlink optical digital output. The 1TiVS-626 can be used
to combine both the SkyHD video and surround sound onto a single HDMI output for distribution around your home.
HDMI video functions
HDMI matrix switchers and distribution amplifiers generally can only output a single resolution to all screens/projectors. Normally this is
determined by the display device connected to output 1. Thus if you connect a 720p screen to output 1 all other screens will have to be 720p or
set to 720p even if they are capable of 1080p.
If you connect a 1080p screen to output 1, then you either have to have all 1080p display devices on outputs 2, 3 and 4, or you have to
downscale the 1080p output to 720p on each output. Without doing this the resolution of 1080p will just give you a blank screen on that output.
This leaves you with two options, either upgrade your screens or downscale the resolutions using a scaler. This is where the 1T-VS-626 is used.
A comprehensive OSD menu and buttons allows selection of output resolution, adjustments of picture quality and audio source selection.
It is also possible to add up to 150ms of audio delay to compensate for lip sync errors.
