GefenTV Extender for HDMI 1.3 over one CAT6a

The GefenTV Extender for HDMI 1.3 over one CAT6a cable will send a 1080p@60Hz HDMI 1.3 signal, with Deep Colour support, over a single CAT-6a cable to distances of up to 20-25 metres. HDMI 1.2 is still fully supported and can be extended up to 45 metres at 1080p@60Hz, and up to 60 metres at 1080i at 60Hz.

The GefenTV Extender for HDMI 1.3 over one CAT6a supports the HDMI 1.3 specification with features such as Deep Colour, Full 1080p HD and compressed lossless audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.

The GefenTV CAT6a extender's pure digital transmission method insures 100% signal integrity over a single cable extension solution.

NB: This device is an HDCP pass-through device.

How it works

The GefenTV Extender for HDMI 1.3 over one CAT6a system consists of sender and receiver units. The HDMI source (set-top box, DVD player, or gaming console) connects to the sender unit with the supplied 1.8m HDMI cable. The receiver unit connects to your HDTV display. One CAT-6a cable links the sender and receiver together. Power is applied to both the sender and receiver with the included 5V DC power supplies. A perfect image is now displayed on the remote HDTV display.

Cable distances and connections

Like all HDMI extenders, these units are intended to be used on a direct point to point basis, ideally without any wall data outlets or passing through a patch panel. Any connections in the Cat6a cable will inevitably reduce the maximum distance that the HDMI signal can travel, and may cause complete loss of video and audio. If you have any doubts about your choice of extender please call us and we will do the best we can to advise you on your own particular situation.

Note also that HDMI signal extension distance depends on the amount of digital bandwidth used by the HDMI signal for AV information being sent.

GefenTV Extender for HDMI 1.3 over CAT6 can also use CAT5e cables, but will be limited to shorter extension distances.

Estimated extension distance using CAT5e is:

• 15 metres for HDMI 1.3 w/Deep Color, 1080p HD and Dolby TrueHD Lossless Multichannel 7.1 Audio
• 37 metres for HDMI 1.2 at 1080p with Multichannel 5.1 Audio
• 60 metres for HDMI 1.2 at 720p or 1080i with Multichannel 5.1 Audio

Estimated extension distance using CAT6a is:

• 20 metres for HDMI 1.3 w/Deep Color, 1080p HD and Dolby TrueHD Lossless Multichannel 7.1 Audio
• 45 metres for HDMI 1.2 at 1080p with Multichannel 5.1 Audio
• 60 metres for HDMI 1.2 at 720p or 1080i with Multichannel 5.1 Audio
