The Sonos Play:5 (formerly S5), is a high-performance wireless music system that delivers room-filling sound, never-ending music and simple iPhone control. Basically incorporating a Sonos ZonePlayer into a high quality contemporary speaker system, the Sonos Play 5 plays music stored on your computer, on your iPod Touch/iPhone or directly from the Internet through your broadband router, wirelessly!

Superior sound

The Sonos Play:5 (formerly S5) has five integrated speakers powered by five dedicated digital amps. This all-digital sound architecture provides crystal-clear, room-filling sound that rivals much larger audio equipment.

The Sonos Play:5 (formerly S5) and the range

The Sonos Play:5 (formerly S5) is larger than the entry level Sonos Play:3 making it ideal for secondary rooms such as kitchens where you do not want to integrate a Sonos ZonePlayer 120 (ZP120) with ceiling speakers.

The Sonos Play:5 (formerly S5) can also work as one of a stereo pair. So if you have a larger room where you want discreet speakers and you have suitable 13 Amp sockets you can set up two of the Sonos Play:5 units to work as the left and right speakers of a stereo pair. This combination of two Play:5 units will give you much greater audio volume but without the need for other source equipment, eg CD player and amplifier in the room.

Controlling your Sonos Play:5 (formerly S5)

With any Sonos player you have a range of controllers, including Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad devices, Android devices, your PC or Mac computer or the dedicated Sonos Control handset.

You can mix and match Controllers (Sonos Control, CR100, Desktop Controller, Sonos Controller for iPhone/iPad, Sonos Controller for Android) for maximum flexibility, or get started with Sonos using the iPhone you already own and one or more ZonePlayers spread throughout your house.

Find and play songs from the most popular online music services, plus 100,000 Internet radio stations and your personal music library. Search for songs, control the volume, play the same song in every room, or choose different songs for different rooms. It’s all in your control, all from the palm of your hand.

Internet connected for unlimited music

Play much more than just what fits on an iPod, including your entire iTunes library stored on a computer, your music stored on your iPod Touch or iPhone, more than 100,000 free Internet radio stations, podcasts and shows and millions of songs and stations from Deezer, Last.fm, Spotify, Wolfgangs Vault and Napster.

Airplay on Sonos?

If you are already familiar with Airplay, you may like to add it to your Sonos system. Whilst Sonos does not have an integrated Airplay receiver you can use an Airport Express device to add Airplay to your Sonos system. This short video shows how to do it.

Requirements:

• Sonos Control (or iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad/Android phone with Sonos app or PC with desktop controller software)
• Sonos Bridge to give you wireless connection to your broadband router or computer (or alternatively hard wire)
• Music file storage device, eg PC, MAC, NAS if you want to play your own stored music
