The Deca10 Cat6A Keystone tool is required to terminate the cable within the Deca10 keystone. The tool is simple to use and ensures
a good connection, trimming the cores and terminating the Cat6A cable within the Deca10 Keystone jackin 1 single action.
HDMI video and cable bandwidth
Distribution of HDMI video over Category 5e and 6 cables has been around for some time, but as the quality increases so do the
demands on the cables joining the HDMI extender baluns and matrix switchers. 1080p FullHD video requires a massive bandwidth from your cable, add to that
multi-channel HD audio, 'Deep Colour' and then 3D and you can see why HDMI distribution over Cat5e or Cat6 is often not successful.
If you are just distributing SkyHD or even Sky 3D broadcast resolution ie 720p/60 or 1080i/60, you probably require 1.98 to 2.23 Gbps
(Gigabits per second). Since a regular network installer will test and guarantee your Cat6 cable to 1Gbps, it is not always
clear that you will be able to connect up your matrix and baluns and achieve the TV experience that you expect. Blu-ray Disc 1080p/24 3D sequence
transmission requires 3.56 Gbps.
This is still less than regular 1080p/60 non 3D video at 4.46Gbps (assuming the standard 8-bit Deep Colour) but
clearly the demands on the cable bandwidth are becoming greater. HDMI 1.3
supports 10-bit, 12-bit and 16-bit colour depths. HDMI 1.4a 'High speed with
ethernet' cables have a bandwidth of 10.2Gbps and are capable of handling 1080p/60Hz resolution (which requires 8.92Gbps). Whilst no 3D equipment
is yet offering 1080p/60 (likely to be a gaming format) or offering 4K x 2K resolution, planning for the future by using a higher
speed network cable system is likely to be a good investment.
Deca10
The HellermanTyton Deca10 system offers Category 6A products to support a 10G (10Gbps) installation, making it
ideally suited to residential 3D and high resolution video distribution solutions, data centres, server farms, Storage Area Networks (SAN),
High Performance Cluster (HPC) Networks and Work Station Environments (WSE).
