The Russound R235LS 2-channel power amplifier has a space-saving low profile design with automatic local source switching capability. It is ideal where you want to boost the volume level of an existing multiroom system for a particular room.
The Russound R235LS allows a local source (eg PC or TV in the bedroom) to automatically override the speakers in that particular zone of a distributed multiroom audio system.
This can be accomplished with its autosensing line input or with its trigger input for versatility in many different applications.
The Russound R235LS is rated at 35 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 50 watts per channel into 4 ohms. In bridged mode the R235LS is rated at 100 watts of power into a single 8-ohm load.
Each amplifier output channel incorporates robust protection circuitry for safety and reliability under extreme circumstances.
This power amplifier provides a constant volume gain, and should be used in conjunction
with an audio source from a pre-amp. For example this could be the Russound CAA66, CAS44 or CAVmultiroom amplifier
with the pre-amp switch set to variable pre-amp out. Alternatively, if you have your music stored on your computer, on a Media Center PC, or a standalone
Imerge SoundServer, use the R235LS to amplify it to speaker level. Volume control would be achieved using the
built-in volume control of the computer or SoundServer.
If your audio source is at a fixed level, eg Sonance iPort, you will need to
use an in-line volume control such as the QED WM21.
One benefit of a high quality specialist power amp like the R235LS is the low level of impedance that it can handle. This means that you can connect multiple pairs of speakers to it, with or without a
multi-way speaker switch or wall mounted volume controls for a simple multiroom system. The R235LS handles down to 4 Ohms impedance meaning
that you can connect to 2 pairs of speakers without a speaker switch, or up to 5 pairs with an impedance matching switch such as the 5 way QED Transmatch.
The Russound R235LS incorporates features "auto-on" signal sensing to automatically turn the amplifier on when signal is present
from an audio source.
