The Gefen ex•tend•it HDMI Splitter allows satellite set-top boxes, DVD players, and other HDTV devices
with a HDMI output to be connected to two or more HDTV displays. It is a flexible distribution hub that can accommodate
multiple displays when two or more HDMI Splitters are connected to create a larger distribution.
NB: This product supports both digital video and digital audio signals.
Additionally the Gefen HDMI 1x2 splitter has a separate digital audio output for connection to your AV receiver for surround sound.
Fully HDCP Compliant
HDCP (high definition content protection) is a standard that is encoded into the video signal to prevent it from being
pirated. If a source device is HDCP coded and is connected to a HDTV display or projector without the proper HDCP decoding
mechanism, the picture is relegated to “snow” or in some cases, very low (480P) resolutions of the images. In order to see HDTV
with HDCP compliance, both the source and display devices must be equipped with HDMI or DVI connections that can enable HDCP decoding,
such as the HDMI Splitter.
How it Works
The HDMI Splitter is connected using a HDMI cable from the HDMI source to the HDMI splitter input. There are two HDMI
outputs. HDMI output 1 is the primary connection and is used for the main display. HDMI output 2 follows the main display.
The Gefen HDMI 1x2 splitter supports 720i, 720p and 1080p resolutions.
NB: Please note that when combining splitters AND extenders eg Gefen DVI Extender
or Gefen HDMI Extender you may have problems, because the DDC technology required for digital
video over cat 5 cable is not available on a few graphics cards. A solution is available at a small extra charge. This requires
a modification to the PCB. Please contact us if you experience this.
