The Gefen ex•tend•it 2x2 HDMI switcher allows you to connect two high definition HDMI sources such as a
Sky HD digibox and a HD DVD player, eg the excellent Marantz DV9500, to two or more HDTV displays. This makes it ideal for home cinema rooms using
both a plasma for daily use and a projector for home cinema use.
The Gefen 2x2 HDMI Switcher routes high definition video in multiple resolutions up to 1080p plus multichannel, ie Dolby 5.1,
digital audio from any one of two sources to the displays.
The Gefen 2x2 HDMI Switcher also has an additional separate optical digital audio output extracted from the HDMI input for easy connection to your
multichannel AV receiver . This unit can be controlled using RS232.
NB: This not a matrix switcher, both outputs always receive the same video output (sometimes called a 'mirrored output').
This product supports both digital video and digital audio signals.
Fully HDCP Compliant
HDCP (high definition content protection) is a standard that is encoded into the video signal to prevent it from being
pirated. If a source device is HDCP coded and is connected to a HDTV display or projector without the proper HDCP decoding
mechanism, the picture is relegated to “snow” or in some cases, very low (480P) resolutions of the images. In order to see HDTV
with HDCP compliance, both the source and display devices must be equipped with HDMI or DVI connections that can enable HDCP decoding,
such as the HDMI Splitter.
