The Powermid XL wireless remote control extender will
allow you to control all your IR systems from any room in the house using
your existing remote control.
The Powermid XL set includes one transmitter and one receiver. The transmitter converts infrared signals
that you fire at it from your remote control into wireless RF signals. These signals are picked up by the receiver
which converts them back to infrared to operate your equipment.
You can extend the system to other rooms by just adding extra transmitters.
Ideal for use with Philip's Pronto.
If you want to
locate the Powermid receiver beside your Hi-Fi etc then use a single Xantech IR emitter,
which plugs into the pyramid and has a stick on IR emitter for your Hi-Fi. These are available as single or twin
'blink' emitters. This means that they flash once when transmitting a signal thereby showing you they are working,
unlike cheaper versions.
Alternatively, if your Hi-Fi is in a cupboard, stick the Flood Emitter version on the doors in front of the equipment.
If you want to send IR to
more than 2 source units then use a Y adapter and double up, giving up to 4 IR outputs.
Dimensions: 75x75x110 mm (transmitter as well as receiver)
Devices Not Compatible
- Old NTL Pace cable boxes other than D1400N, since these use IrDA not IR (virgin Media boxes do work with Powermid)
- Old Telewest Pace cable box, as above
- Wireless stereo systems, eg Bose Lifestyle
- Bang and Olufsen equipment
An alternative that does not involve radio transmission is the Labgear HandyLink.
This uses your TV co-axial cable to transmit the IR signal from remote TV to source TV. Other IR extender systems can be found
here: Infra-Red control.
NB: The current version of Powermid operates on 433MHz radio frequency. If you are adding a transmitter
or receiver to an existing Powermid system, then check the operating frequency. This is normally shown on a
small sticker on the base of the pyramid. If your system is more than 5 years old, it will probably be operating
on 418MHz, which is no longer available. New 433MHz units are not compatible with older 418MHz units.
