The Gefen 4x4 HDMI Matrix switcher allows you to access 4 individual HDMI
digital video sources and display the output up to 1080p resolution onto 4 HDMI equipped HDTV displays, with multi-channel digital audio, eg Dolby 5.1.
This is a true multi-switcher allowing
you to make the most of your high quality HDMI or DVI
DVD player
, Sky HD satellite digibox, or
other high definition AV equipment. For sources with DVI connectors use HDMI to DVI converters,
or HDMI to DVI connecting leads. For DVI sources you will of course lose the
digital audio upon conversion.
By combining the Gefen 4x4 HDMI Matrix switcher with either longer length HDMI cables,
or with the Gefen HDTV baluns, and an IR relay
system, such as the Xantech MicroLink, it is easy to create a multiroom video distribution system of
the highest quality. (NB: The HDTV baluns do not carry digital audio.) The Gefen 4x4 HDMI Matrix switcher requires no complex networking and is simple to install and operate.
Substituting the IR relay system with a multiroom audio system such as the
Russound CAA66 or CAM, you can expand this into a multiroom AV system,
feeding 4 high definition plasma screens or LCDs, with stereo sound, each viewer able to select the source remotely using the IR control
relay system built-into the multiroom system.
The Gefen 4x4 HDMI Matrix switcher also has an RS232 connection for interfacing with other control systems.

Fully HDCP Compliant
HDCP (high definition content protection) is a standard that is encoded into the video signal to prevent it from being
pirated. If a source device is HDCP coded and is connected to an HDTV display or projector without the proper HDCP decoding
mechanism, the picture is relegated to “snow” or in some cases, very low (480P) resolutions of the images. In order to see HDTV
with HDCP compliance, both the source and display devices must be equipped with HDMI or DVI connections that can enable HDCP decoding,
such as the 4x4 HDMI Switcher.
