The Russound VM1 Video Matrix distributes High Definition (HD) component video in resolutions up to and
including 1080p from four or eight sources to four or up to eight rooms.
Ideally it should be used in combination with the Russound CAA66 multiroom audio system to distribute the component video
associated with the AV sources such as SkyHD, Freesat, a Blu-ray player,
DVD or Media Centre PC.
How it works
The Russound VM1 routes video signals to VMR1 receivers in as many as eight zones, each using a single CAT-5e cable. Active video circuitry prevents signal loss and
interference in cable lengths up to 90 metres.
The VMR1 receiver is a US style single gang wall mounted device that is located in each room where component video distribution is required. It receives video signals from the VM1 Video
Matrix through the single CAT-5e cable and provides RCA jacks for connection to the display with a component video cable.
NB. You will require a US style single gang back box for mounting each of these wall plates. For plaster board we suggest a
plastic back box. For solid block walls we suggest a
metal box which we supply as a flat pack.
The Russound VM1 works seamlessly with Russound CAA66 ,
Russound C5 or other Russound RNet systems such as the CAV66, by linking into the Russound
keypads such that selection of a video source causes the video to
automatically be output onto the TV or screen in that room. The VM1 also works with other distributed audio systems using RS-232 serial control.
Non-HD non-component video sources
The VM1 is available with optional upconverters for converting composite and S-video signals to component video. Four-source, four-zone models offer upconversion for two sources
(model code: VM1-4UC), while eight-source, eight-zone models offer upconversion for two sources (model code: VM1-8UC) or for four sources(model code: VM1-8UC2).
HDMI sources
If you have a SkyHD box or other source that does NOT have HDMI simply purchase a low cost JST HDMI
to component converter for each non HDMI input. Note that the JST converter will
allow a Blu-ray player outputting 1080p on HDMI to convert this to 1080p component. Using the component output directly on your Blu-ray player
into the VM1 would limit the quality to 576p.
Ex-demo unit
We have an ex-demonstration Russound VM1 4x4 model for clearance. We will include two of the JST HDMI
to component converters within the offer price, to allow you to connect your SkyHD and Blu-ray player.
