The iRoom iPad iDock is the perfect way to store your iPad or iPad2*. The iRoom iDock Basic has power and audio connections allowing you to use
your Apple iPad for home automation control with a wide range
of downloadable apps for control of audio, video, lighting and climate as well as the traditional touch screen apps such as
weather and time, and for music playback.. Naturally it also provides continuous charging of the
iPad and connection to the locally available Wi-Fi.

Apps such as Command Fusion and Bobby using
the Global Cache GC-100 or iTach interfaces
allow you to extend this level of control with sophisticated graphical interfaces and macros.
Using a Wi-Fi connection when the iPad/iPad2* is docked, apps supported by iPad/iPad2* can be downloaded for integration
with the control system. A gentle tap on the multi-touch display or swipe and tap provides easy
access to the range of apps available. Downloading of new apps and iTunes® content may be done with the iPad/iPad2*
mounted in the iRoom via your Wi-Fi network.
Installation of the iRoom iPad/iPad2* iDock
The iRoom iDock can be installed in solid or dry stud walls but must only be used with the flush-mounted back box
(part number N310510BB/PV) if you are installing it into a solid wall or if there is any chance of dampness behind the stud wall affecting the
mechanism. Operation without the flush-mounted back box outside these conditions will void the warranty. Even in stud walls we would
strongly recommend the use of the back box as installation without it is quite difficult.
For easy removal of the Apple iPad/iPad2* you activate the invisible proximity sensor and the iPad/iPad2* slot tilts forward by 20°.
The iPad slot remains in remove-position for 10 seconds - after which the slot is automatically moved to the closed position.
As an alternative you can disconnect the
proximity sensor and connect an external device, such as a Fingerprint touch contact, onto the unused terminals.
If the slot mechanism is overloaded, the iPad slot automatically moves to remove-position to avoid
injury and damage to the equipment. Likewise in the case of a power failure, the iPad slot again opens to guarantee removal of the iPad/iPad2*.
Single room solutions, eg hotel room, bedroom, etc
The iRoom iPad iDock lends itself to simple single room solutions for a hotel bedroom or kid's bedroom. Using a
NuVo ZA215 in wall amplifier with the iRoom iPad iDock provides an easily accessed
local music source with the minimum of complicated wiring or controls. By connecting the iRoom iPad iDock directly to the rear of the in-wall amplifier, you can create a very neat
solution, whilst still giving the freedom to plug a laptop into the front. Wire the audio output to a pair of in-ceiling speakers (4 or 8 Ohms) to complete the package.
To simplify this process we have produced an In-Wall Connecting Block (part no. CS-IWCB). All you need to do is run a patch lead from
the iRoom iPad iDock to the CS-IWCB; connect in the power supply
for the iRoom iPad iDock and run a co-ax speaker wire from the connecting block to the powered NuVo ZA215.
For a wiring diagram, click here.
With this arrangement you do not require the audio outlet plate, all connections being hidden.
For advice on this or other wiring arrangements please call us.
NB. The CyberSelect CS-IWCB iPort in-wall connecting block can only be purchased together with an iRoom iPad iDock. It is not sold separately.
*iPad2 fitting
The iRoom iPad iDock Basic in vertical format is essentially designed for the iPad 1. In order to be able to use the iPad2 with this dock iRoom have
developed the iPad2 kit. Although the iPad2 will fit and connect to the iRoom iPad iDock as it stands, iRoom recommend this adaptor kit to your iDock to ensure that
the iPad2 fits snugly into the holding frame.
This kit contains an insert for the flap of the dock and a frame that fits the outer measurements of the iPad™ 2 perfectly.
It only takes a few moments to exchange these dock components.
You can order the iPad2 kit as an extra accessory for your iDock Basic portrait. (Available August 2011 - hopefully!)
