Coolports enable you to share devices over a single Category 5e cable, so can make the most
of every cable in your home network. They are ideal if you have run a single Cat5e but
now want for example a data point and a telephone point at the same location!
Made by the cabling specialists Hellermann Tyton, the Coolports we sell
are complete kits, each kit containing a pair of Coolports, two 100cm
patch leads and two 15cm launch leads for plugging into the RJ45 data outlets at each end.
The Coolports are always used in pairs, one at the outlet and one at the patch panel end of the Cat5e cable to be
shared. Installation is "Plug 'n' Play", all connections being RJ45, and the Coolports
can be easily mounted in position using the adhesive pads included, or screwed using the
fixing slots on the units
NB: Coolports are not suitable for adding extra capacity to 1000mbps ethernet systems.
The Coolport options are:
- Red - Allows you to connect one analogue phone and one PC over a single Cat5e cable
- Blue - Allows you to connect 2 analogue or digital (ISDN) phones and one PC over a single Cat5e cable
- Purple - Allows you to connect 2 PCs over a single Cat5e cable
