In order to distribute CCTV, and DVD successfully around the house,
you need to 'modulate' the signal onto a specific channel, amplify it and distribute it. This section covers devices to perform these
functions. Click here for Labgear RF distribution amplifiers,
and here for Channel Plus distribution amplifiers
Your video (VCR) will modulate its own signal and also signals passing through it into mono sound
(even if it is a stereo VCR). For this reason it is
normal for the signal from your satellite set top box to pass through the VCR, before distribution
(eg see Labgear MRX wiring diagram). It is possible to modulate the signal from a DVD player through the VCR but this
is often not successful. For this reason it is better to have a separate modulator for the DVD. Having a separate modulator for the VCR
can produce a higher quality and more flexible system also. Multiple modulators can be connected in series for a number of devices,
or use multi source units see below.

A range of high quality mono modulators featuring:
- 5515 One source to one co-ax output ie to input of distribution amplifier
- 5525 Two sources to one co-ax output
- 5545 Four sources to one co-ax output
- Loop through capability to video outputs
- RCA phono inputs
- User selectable modulation frequencies
- Includes IR relay driver using 5 volt Channel Plus system back to source equipment: requires purchase of Channel Plus
8200HHR distribution amplifier,
IR receiver 'target', which
fits in existing co-ax cable near remote TV, and IR emitter.
- 5525 and 5545 accept either cable/satellite or antenna input
