For genuine ease of installation, ease of use and value for money, the Russound CAS44 four-zone/four-source
controller amplifier is hard to beat and includes features not typically
found in competitive models at this price. Expandable to eight zones, a CAS44 system supports multiple keypads per zone.
Its dedicated CAS-RC remote control is packed with a comprehensive list of IR device codes and learning capability for
simple component control. The new Russound CAS44 offers exceptional value, straightforward operation and adjustable
playback for multiroom audio made easy.
Keypads
Two elegantly designed keypad options are available for one-touch control of home audio components. The KP4 includes 20 labels
for personalizing your 4 sources, and the KPL offers a LCD panel making multiroom audio control
simple and enjoyable. The five-character LCD display shows source name and volume level. You can control the bass, treble,
balance, loudness and volume from any KP4 or KPL keypad in the home. On the KPL display you can see the audio settings
as they are adjusted for ease of use.
For ease of installation, the controller can be rack mounted (with the provided rack ears).
We offer two CAS44 kits with either the KP4 keypads or the KPL keypads. Both kits come complete with a
Russound LRC learning remote control, pre-programmed with the main commands for the controller.
NB: The CAS44 controller does not have routeable IR, so you cannot have two identical sources and maintain IR control of
each independently.
This unit is rack mountable and comes with rack ears included in the kit. It occupies 2U when in the rack.
Cabling is by Category 5e cable from the controller to each keypad, and
speaker cable from the controller to each pair of speakers.
Keypads are easy to fit since they have 'punch down' connections for
Category 5 cable. (An IDC punch down is provided as part of the kit)
Keypads require US style backboxes.
When combining this system with a hard disc based music server system requiring a visual display, eg Imerge SoundServer
or the Russound Smart Media Server, consider using a wall mounted TFT LCD monitor mounted alongside the keypad as shown below. Note that
the CAS44 does not interface directly to other Russound RNET devices such as the Smart Media Server
or the ST2 Twin Tuner.
Installation Tip
Buy the US style back boxes early before the
walls are plastered. Cut out size for the back box - 56mm wide x 95mm tall x 78mm deep
8 Ohm speakers are recommended but you can have 4 Ohm speakers in up to two rooms if required.
You can have two pairs of 8 Ohm speakers operating in parallel a single zone if you wish. Ideally these would be controlled using a
two way parallel speaker switch, however they can be both connected directly to the CAS44 if required.
NB: The speaker connectors can only take a maximum speaker cable with a cross-sectional area of 2.5 sq mm. If you wish to put two cables into one connector
you may need to use butt connectors. Please ask if in doubt.
