The Russound BTA-2 is a wall-mounted local input module for A-BUS installations that allows the easy integration of any Bluetooth audio source such as smart phones, tablets and computers, etc. with Bluetooth capability, to individual A-BUS equipped rooms.. Whenever a Bluetooth signal is received, the BTA-2 will automatically switch the active audio source to the Bluetooth device, making it simple and easy to use by any home owner.
The advanced Bluetooth radio module with aptX audio encoding offers a higher quality audio signal whenever an aptX-enabled Bluetooth device is utilized as the music source. When the BTA-2 is paired, it will automatically switch the music source from the main system source to the local Bluetooth source. This local connection will remain until pairing is disconnected or the Bluetooth device is out of range for longer than 3 minutes.
The input source should be connected to the Cat.5 or above cable between the A-Bus hub and the A-Bus Keypad using RJ-45 connectors. It can also be wired in series with other local input modules using Cat.5 or above cable. The BTA-2 module closest to the room’s A-Bus amplified keypad will be the master.
The BTA-2 may be used with all A-BUS installations. For installations where more than one BTA-2 is desired, a Windows software application is available free of charge to allow for custom naming of each BTA-2 as well as to allow for the use of a customized password for security purposes
NB: The BTA-2 does not include the faceplate, this should be purchased separately.
Bluetooth as a main source
The BTA-2 is a superb option for installations in hotel rooms where transmission range is not a problem. The BTA-2 is connected from its output socket to any A-BUS hub with an input or Expansion Input. It can also be inserted in a main source CAT-5 cable between input module and hub, overriding the main source when paired allowing the guest ot play their own music though the hotel room speaker system without interrupting your main music distribution .
Bluetooth devices are normally developed to provide wireless communication between device that are Bluetooth enabled with in a room. However the BTA-2 has ben specially developed to facilitate a reliable operating range within difficult situations. When used in a good situation the operating range can be up to 15 metres (50ft). ;The operating range can be significantly reduced by a number of external factors, for example transmission interference from other communication devices, electrical wiring and room construction materials, such as brick walls and concrete floors, etc. When the BTA-2 is operating near maximum range, the signal may intermittently drop in and out, as signal strength varies.
Bluetooth Source Volume Level Compatibility.
Audio output from Bluetooth enabled devices varies considerably but the BTA-2 has been adjusted to be equal to the output of most Bluetooth devices; in some cases the level may be higher. Most devices have their own adjustable volume level and it is recommended that this is used to adjust the output level to match the main audio source’s volume level.
This is an excellent feature of the BTA-2. Each module is identified by an individual code number beginning with the prefix AB (ABxxx). The identification code can be replaced with individual room name identification (eg. Bedroom, Study, Patio, etc,) prior to installation. This will ensure in a hotel installation environment each room will not be able to inadvertently communicate with one another.
Security Pairing Code
When pairing the module for the first time, a security code is required. The default code is 1234. The four digit number can be changed or switched off in the room naming software. Individual room naming and discrete security pairing code, must be changed with the renaming software prior to installation.
