The Sonos Connect distributes and plays music throughout your house. If you have an existing HiFi stereo system with a stereo amplifier, a surround sound system with an AV receiver and music held on a PC or Mac, then this is the system for you. For improved wireless connectivity the Sonos Connect Amp has built-in 802.11n WiFi. The Sonos Connect has analogue stereo outputs on standard RCA phono connectors, and digital audio output on both optical and co-ax RCA phono connectors.
The line level audio output of the Sonos Connect can be either fixed line level for integrated stereo amplifiers, or variable level. Using the Sonos Connect in variable level mode allows you to use a power amplifier (or stereo amp or AV receiver) and control the volume from the Sonos CR200 controller.
The Sonos Connect accesses any stored music files so long as they are attached to a Zone Player somewhere in the house, so that you can access the music regardless of where it is stored. The Sonos Connect can also accept a line-level input from any device that outputs on phono connectors, allowing you to distribute not only your music on the computer but also audio from other conventional audio sources, such as DVD players, satellite digiboxes or even turntables with pre-amps.
The Sonos supported configuration generally requires that you hard-wire your computer or hard disc storage storing the music to the first Sonos Connect Amp, Sonos Connect, Play:3 or Play:5 ZonePlayer. Thereafter all transmission between other Sonos Zoneplayers can be wired or wireless. You can also make this link using an Ethernet over mains ‘HomePlug’
