Active HDMI CAT5 Extender

The HDMI CAT5 Extender extends your HDMI connected HDTV video display up to 60m away from your HDMI source using cost effective Cat5e cable. This is the first HDMI extender to our knowledge to support HDMI audio and video transmission over a single Cat5 cable.

For 1080i (HDTV) sources the screen can be up to 60m away, for FullHD 1080p screens and sources the distance cannot exceed 40 metres. Note that this unit is suitable for sources that require HDCP compliance such as the latest SkyHD box (the one without component video) or BluRay. It is also ideal for upscaling DVD players such as the Marantz DV6001, Media Centers such as the Clever1750 or Clever3000 and Media Center streamers such as the Linksys DMA2100 or DMA2200.

How it works

The HDMI CAT5 Extender transmitter unit sits next to your Media Center or non HDCP source. The HDMI CAT5 Extender transmitter connects to your HDMI AV source using an HDMI lead (not included). The HDMI CAT5 Extender receiver sits next to your HDMI display - up to 60m away. The display plugs into the back of the HDMI CAT5 Extender receiver. NB. Both the transmitter and the receiver are powered by the plug top low voltage power supllies. The Cat5e cable between the two can be UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pairs), FTP (Foil Twisted Pairs) or STP (Shielded Twisted Pairs).

The HDMI CAT5 Extender is HDCP compliant. It will work with HDCP sources such as BluRay and encrypted SkyHD digiboxes.
